Records Management is responsible for any personnel and certain financial records, such as invoices and payroll documents, on paper, electronic media or any other format.
Records Management assists departments with:
- Document Retention Schedules. We provide guidance on how long records must be retained by departments and when they may be destroyed or disposed of according to UC retention schedules.
- Document Retrievals. The high cost in time and money of off-site third-party storage and retrieval are key reasons why we encourage departments to convert paper to electronic files.
Records Management also provides guidance in the handling of subpoenas for personnel records.
Records Management handles:
- Subpoenas and Summonses. For personnel and payroll records of UCLA employees.
Note: For Public Records requests please contact Information Practices at records@ucla.edu.
