Short Form Services Agreement Involving Countries of Concern

Effective August 28, 2023, UC President Michael V. Drake mandated an enhanced review and approval process for certain affiliations and agreements involving countries of concern in response to increasing risks associated with international engagements.

Countries of Concern

“Countries of concern” include Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, the People's Republic of China (including Hong Kong and Macau), the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), the Russian Federation, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

If your organization is considering a SFSA involving a country of concern, please do not execute the agreement and email Mary Chan for consultation and next steps. Execution of such agreements now requires additional approvals from central administrative offices.

For SFSAs that do not involve countries of concern, there is no change to the current procedures
